Types of Hopper Batching Plant
A hopper batching plant/skip hoist concrete batching plant is a type of concrete batching plant that transports aggregates to the concrete mixer through a hopper lifting system rather than a belt conveyor. Compared with belt conveyor concrete batching plants, hopper-type plants are more compact, economical, and suitable for small to medium concrete production projects.

How Does a Hopper Batching Plant Work?
- Aggregate Feeding
Sand, gravel, and crushed stone are loaded into the aggregate batching machine using a wheel loader.
The batching machine automatically measures different aggregate proportions according to the preset formula. - Accurate Material Weighing
The weighing system precisely measures: Cement, water, aggregate, additives, fly ash (optional).
Modern hopper batching plants use computerized control systems to ensure batching accuracy and concrete consistency. - Hopper Lifting System
After weighing, aggregates are transported upward through the hopper lifting mechanism.
Unlike belt conveyor plants, the hopper uses a rail-guided lifting bucket to deliver materials directly into the mixer. - Concrete Mixing
Inside the mixer, all materials are blended evenly.
Most hopper batching plants are equipped with: Twin shaft concrete mixer, planetary mixer, single shaft mixer, pan mixer and other concrete mixers. - Concrete Discharg
